Equal Opportunity Act 1995 Exemption

The Victorian Electoral Commission applied to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for exemption from provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act 1995 to allow it to consider specific criteria in determining whether or not a person should be offered employment or engagement as a contractor with the Victorian Electoral Commission.

The exemption was granted for 3 years effective from 8 October 2009. A fact sheet detailing the implications of this result for both current and prospective VEC employees is available below.
