Nominating for the Goldsmith Ward by-election
Nominations for Pyrenees Shire Council’s Goldsmith Ward by-election open on Thursday, 29 January.
Returning Officer for the Goldsmith Ward by-election, Colin Nicholson, encouraged anyone interested in representing their local community on Council to stand as a candidate.
“Prospective candidates should act quickly to ensure they don’t miss out on lodging their nomination,” Mr Nicholson said.
Anyone wishing to nominate as a candidate must lodge a correctly completed nomination form and a $250 fee with the Returning Officer by 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 3 February.
Prospective candidates can lodge their nomination by appointment only from Thursday, 29 January until Monday, 2 February. Prospective candidates should contact the Returning Officer on 0439 154 639 to book an appointment.
Nominations may also be lodged without appointment between 9.00am and 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 3 February at the election office, 1 Lawrence Street, Beaufort.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to first complete their nomination form online at www.vec.vic.gov.au before lodging it with the Returning Officer.
The Goldsmith Ward by-election will be conducted entirely by post, and ballot papers and voting information will be mailed to all eligible voters from Tuesday, 17 February.
