By-election for Pyrenees Shire Council’s Goldsmith Ward
A by-election for Pyrenees Shire Council’s Goldsmith Ward will be held by post in March 2009, according to the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC).
Goldsmith Ward received no nominations for November’s general council elections, so a by-election is required to fill the single vacancy on Council.
“Those people who were enrolled for Goldsmith Ward at the general elections are automatically enrolled to vote in the upcoming by-election,” said Returning Officer Colin Nicholson.
Mr Nicholson said the voters roll for the by-election will not include any new enrolments or updates made after 3 October 2008.
“Enrolled voters will automatically be mailed a ballot pack, which includes a ballot paper and candidate information, in mid-February,” he said.
The councillor elected at this by-election will represent Goldsmith Ward on Council until the next general council elections in November 2012.
For more information about the upcoming by-election, people can contact the VEC on 13 18 32.
